A Small Gift Folio

For Bookplates

If you read my ‘about’ page you know that I have a separate site, NancyNikko.com where I sell bookplates, stationery , cards etc.

I don’t sell folios for bookplates or folios, folders or binders due to the time it takes to make them but I do enjoy creating these for personal projects.

I decided for this small folio I would use some of the paper I ‘aged’ (click here to see that post). It gives it an antiquated look that I feel works well with this particular design featuring an English country estate and gardens.

This is the interior of the folio, I added glassine pockets which I made from glassine envelopes by cutting them down and gluing them to the interior end sheets (marbled paper).

I put them on both sides but you could just put it on one side and decorate the other side with some other image or a place to write a note to the receiver.
It really depends upon what your folio is going to be used for. Afterall, the folio can be any size, so this could hold a print or drawing you’ve done - or a gift certificate or gift card.

Bookplates in decorative folio

Here’s the folio showing the bookplates outside the pockets and the coordinating colors of the end sheets, plates and, if using, the ribbon to wrap around it when giving.

This was a relatively quick project that took just under an hour.

Of course, doing what I do for a living, I’m set up with all kinds of paper, ribbon, gluing options, and other tools such as cutting knives and sheets, so it might take you a little longer if you have to hunt around for this stuff.
